Author Biographies

Doreen Stephens
Doreen Stephens became the Archivist for the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster and the Provincial Synod of British Columbia, on 1 January 1986. Prior to that time, she had been a volunteer in the same archives for five years. She holds a degree in education from the University of British Columbia and was a teacher for several years. She is just concluding a term as the Treasurer of the British Columbia Archives Council (BCAC), and is a past secretary of the Religious Archives Special Interest Section of the ACA.
Garth Walker
Garth Walker became the Archivist of the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster and the Provincial Synod of British Columbia in 1980, upon his retirement after 46 years with Mutual Life. He has been very active in the Anglican Church across Canada, and was primarily responsible for the creation of the network of Anglican archivists in British Columbia. In 1986, he retired as Archivist of the Diocese of New Westminster and of the Provincial Synod of B.C., was named an honourary member of the Association of British Columbia Archivists (ABCA) and became the first chair of the General Synod Archives Committee, serving until 1989.
