Selma Barkham
SELMA BARKHAM was awarded the Gold Medal of The Royal Canadian Geographical Society in 1980 in recognition of her detective work in Spanish archives which led to the discovery of the Basque presence in southern Labrador during the sixteenth century - most dramatically to the pinpointing of the whereabouts of the sunken SAN JUAN which went down in Red Bay, Labrador, in 1565.
