Author Biography

Tom Nesmith
Tom Nesmith is Associate Professor in the Master’s Programme in Archival Studies at the University of Manitoba. Prior to accepting this appointment in 1990 and establishing the archival studies programme, he had been an archivist at the National Archives of Canada since 1978, where he worked in both private manuscripts and government records. He was Editor of Archivaria from 1984 to 1986, and among other editing and publication activities, he was both editor of and a contributing author to Canadian Archival Studies and the Rediscovery of Provenance (1993), a joint publication of the Association of Canadian Archivists (ACA) and the Society of American Archivists. Tom is a member of the editorial board of Archivaria and the ACA Education Committee. He is also a citizen representative on the City of Winnipeg Records Committee.
